Allow .apkg(anki) file for import in study set
Hey goodnotes
I have a problem that please make available .apkg format to import for study set(flashcards)
Because it is 2nd most priority of study that is active recall and
Majority of medical scholar student uses already formed anki(.apkg) flashcards
That is actual too much time taking and also anki community has already made cards of very vast range of subjects and also from many sources so it is more efficient and beneficial to direct import readymade flashcards
And also most of medical student using ipad
And anki for ipad is for 30$
I was purchasing goodnotes for me i was littlebit confuse initially but than i see goodnotes flashcards feature also then it made me convince to try goodnotes currently I'm under 7 day trial for lifetime purchase
But now i have to again think of it to compare other apps also
Because flashcards feature is not usefull to me then i will hesitate to give ₹3500
So please if it is possible then
Allow .apkg files to import for study set with mediaThank hou

Basic keyboard shortcuts for closing tabs, creating new files/folders, etc.
I would like to see some basic keyboard shortcuts implemented, examples are in the title. Most annoyingly Cmd + W doesn't close a tab but rather exits the document and leaves it open.
Below are some suggestions for shortcuts (shortcuts marked with '*' can be considered extra):
Window/Tab management:
- Cmd + W: closes the current tab
- *Cmd + Opt + W: closes all tabs
- Cmd + Shift + Esc: exits document view
- Cmd + Opt + Left/Right: Go to previous/next tabFile management:
- Cmd + Opt + N: Creates new File

Full support for keyboard navigation using Tab and Shift+Tab on MacOS
I use keyboard shortcuts quite extensively and would like to see some better support on keyboard navigation, especially in the documents view. So opening, renaming, etc. files can be done without a mouse/trackpad. Maybe implement a toggle for this option, so regular users are not affected by default.

Easier Text Coloring in Txt-Doc.
In a Txt-Doc there should be more tools in the toolbar for important actions like setting the background color of selected Text to a color by just clicking on the color symbol.

Turn off iPad screen when on Goodnotes
When I leave my iPad on Goodnotes it never closes by itself despite my iPad being on the 2 minute shut off time. On every other app it shuts down by itself but Goodnotes. Can we implement something that hinders this? It wastes a lot of battery

margins
Please make the templates editable. For example I like a margin but I find it's too wide. I'd like the templates to be editable such that you can have a smaller or larger margin as needed.

Text Box Issues
When I use the text box, the line height keeps changing. I have to and adjust the line height for each sentence, despite having a set default. I also hate how it goes to Lasso all the time, I never use Lasso. I miss Goodnotes 6 as it was easier to use for someone who struggles with technology.

Flashcard Improvement Suggestion
Enable the full toolbar on flashcards
Allow users to use the same tools as on regular pages: highlighting in color, underlining, bold text, and free writing/drawing. This would make it much easier to emphasize important content and quickly add notes or markings.Support combined text and images on a single flashcard
Make it possible to place both images and text together on one flashcard for better visual learning and more flexible study methods.Detect and indicate duplicate flashcards:
Show a clear warning or indicator when a flashcard is created twice, to avoid unnecessary duplicates and keep decks organized.

Change the text box when you say it in a good way
This update is seriously frustrating.
Why does the tool automatically switch to the lasso tool after using a text box?
The previous version was much smoother and easier to use — now it just feels unnecessarily inconvenient and irritating.
It honestly looks like this change was made without any real consideration for users. And if you’re not even reading App Store reviews but just telling people to “send feedback,”
it really makes us wonder if you actually care about what users are saying.2 votes -
rotate and resize text with two fingers
When I am using the lasso tool I would like to rotate the handwritten text with my fingers or pencil and resize it as well but it seems very restricted at the moment. When I use two fingers it duplicates which there is no need for as there is a copy and paste function and the only way to rotate is the box icon which is very restricted and not free as in like free motion.

Import PDF as a study set
There are multiple ways of doing this:
(A) Chop each page in half: top half becomes the ‘image’ for question, bottom half becomes the ‘image’ for answer.
(B) Two pages per flashcard, one for question and one for answer (maybe do this if pdf is in landscape mode). This would be immensely helpful as currently you can only import text, which is an issue if your flash cards have diagrams or render LaTeX.

Converting Regular Documents into Text Documents
Request to Add a Feature for Converting Regular Documents into Text Documents
Currently, there is a feature that allows regular documents to be converted into whiteboard documents, but there is no option to convert them into text documents. I believe it would be very helpful to add a feature that allows regular documents to be converted directly into text documents.
For example, when working with scanned documents, some characters are not always correctly recognized by OCR. In such cases, it becomes difficult to search the content or effectively use AI features. If users could convert a regular document into a text document, they could easily correct only the misrecognized OCR characters, refine the document into a clean and accurate text version, and then make better use of AI tools.
Use Cases example
OCR Correction for Scanned Textbooks and MaterialsManually correct only the misrecognized OCR characters to create an accurate and clean text document.
Creating Refined Documents for Search and AI Use
Convert image-based documents that are not searchable into text documents that support search, summarization, and AI-generated questions.
Study and Exam Preparation Notes
Convert textbooks and lecture materials into text documents, then add or edit only key points to create personalized study notes.
Work and Research Document Management
Convert reports, papers, and reference materials into text format for quoting, comparison, and AI-based analysis.
Workflow Improvements example
Scanned document → convert to a text document → correct only OCR errors
→ No need to rewrite the entire document.Eliminate limitations of searching, copying, and using AI caused by image-based documents.
Use refined text documents to enable
AI summaries, key point extraction, question generation, and comparative analysis.Simplify the document management flow into
“Scan → Correct → Organize → Use AI”.Request to Add a Feature for Converting Regular Documents into Text Documents

Request to Increase Page Limit When Converting Regular Documents to Whiteboard
Request to Increase Page Limit When Converting Regular Documents to Whiteboard
When converting a regular document to a whiteboard, the page limit is currently restricted to about 20–25 pages. However, these days many lecture materials exceed 100 pages, and in some cases—especially for law-related subjects—they can easily go beyond 300 pages. I strongly suggest increasing this page limit.
In addition, when a document is converted to a whiteboard, the content is currently transferred only as images. It would be much more useful if text recognition (OCR) were also applied during the conversion process, allowing the text to be selectable and editable.
Use Cases example
Convert large lecture materials and textbooks (100–300 pages) into a whiteboard at once for consolidated, single-note learningIn text-heavy subjects such as law, public administration, and medicine, search statutes, case law, and key concepts while visually reorganizing them
Use OCR text recognition to enable keyword search, AI-powered summaries, and question generation
Instructors and professionals can use long documents and reports as whiteboards for structured thinking and content organization
Workflow Improvements example
Convert large documents in a single process without page limits, reducing fragmented workflowsCombine images with OCR-recognized text to allow searching, editing, and rearranging content
Manually correct OCR errors to create a clean, refined document before applying AI features
Transform documents from passive reading materials into spaces for organizing, thinking, and analysis

Table of Contents
Please create an auto-generated table of contents template, that can also be edited. This should include an option to sort by date, through your outline, or topics.
Someone else said "Allow me to select the text, eg my page heading like (meeting to discuss projected financial) and then click on a button which shoots the page heading to an automatically generated table of contents in the front of the Notebook. Table of contents will be built using all the specified headings, and should also display the date of that entry for easy reference." THIS IS GREAT AND SO HELPFUL.

Cartesian co-ordinate system tool
Hello Goodnotes Team,
I am a dedicated user of your app, and I love how it has transformed my note-taking. I have a feature suggestion that I believe would be immensely valuable for students and professionals in mathematics, science, and engineering: the addition of a built-in Cartesian Coordinate System tool.
The Suggestion
Currently, users must manually draw or import graph paper to create graphs. My suggestion is to implement a feature that allows users to instantly generate a customizable Cartesian coordinate plane on any page, similar to how the Shape Tool works.
Key Customization Options
This tool would be most powerful if it included the following options:
1. Axis Limits: Ability to set the minimum and maximum values for both the x-axis and the y-axis.
2. Grid Density/Spacing: Control over the distance between major and minor grid lines (e.g., spacing of 1, 0.5, 2, 10 units).
3. Visibility Toggle: Options to toggle the visibility of the primary axes, the grid lines, and labels/tick marks independently.
4. Styling: Selection of line weight and color for the axes and grid.
5. Snapping (Ideal): An advanced option for shapes, lines, and the Pen tool to "snap" to the grid lines or tick marks when enabled, making it easy to plot points and draw precise functions. Why This is Important
This feature would significantly:
1. Save Time: Eliminate the tedious and imprecise process of manually drawing axes and grid lines.
2. Increase Precision: Ensure accurate and neat graphs for homework, lab reports, and technical notes.
3. Enhance Goodnotes' Value: Solidify Goodnotes' position as the premier application for academic and technical users.
Thank you for considering this request. I look forward to seeing the app continue to evolve!

Goodnotes 6 Beta: Writing/Typing functionality in Notebooks (like Word), not just in the new "Text Documents"
In the current beta, the ability to type text directly into classic notebooks (e.g., DIN A4) has been removed. Instead, text can now only be added via individual text boxes. At the same time, you introduced the new “Text Documents” – a fantastic feature that I find very well implemented.
However, the current setup lacks the flexibility to combine both writing methods within a notebook. Many users – myself included – like to work in a way where we write with the stylus on one page, type on the next A4 page, and then switch back to handwriting again. This freedom was extremely valuable for many use cases and is now missing in the beta version.
My suggestion would therefore be:
Keep the new “Text Documents” exactly as they are – this feature is excellent.
Reintroduce the option to type directly in classic notebooks (similar to how it works in “Text Documents”), without being limited to individual text boxes.
This way, the new functionality could be perfectly combined with the flexibility of the old workflow. Many users I have already spoken with would very much welcome such a solution, as the removed feature was widely used and important for productivity.I would be very happy if you could take this feedback into consideration – and I would also greatly appreciate a reply from you.

Neue Dimension für Seiten
Idee:
[Audio Recording] Trim, Edit, Split, Crop Audio Recordings
Hi! Sometimes I forget to stop the audio clip and it continues to record leaving me with so much wasted data space and unnecessary long clips that I can't edit or shorten. If we just had the feature to simply edit the audio clip, that would be AMAZING.

MIDI support
I'm using Goodnotes on iPad mainly on stage as a guitarist. As I'm not using real sheet music but have my own note-taking scheme, Goodnotes is the perfect tool for me. On stage I'm also using a bluetooth foot-switch (Boss FS1-WL) which is sending HID commands such as "Right arrow" to turn the next page in Goodnotes and it's working well.
However I have the need to select the next "Performance" on my Amp-Modeler (this can be any MIDI device) at the same time. As the Foot-switch is only able to either being in HID- OR MIDI-mode, this is not possible today. Means, I need to step on the Boss switch to turn the page in Goodnotes and in addition I need to step on another switch of the Amp-Modeler to select the next Performance. The feature request:
Please add simple MIDI communication to be able to receive MIDI CC-commands to turn the page.
All Music-focused Notes-apps on the market such as "forScore", "MobileSheets", etc. do support MIDI-listener to do exactly what I'm looking for . But I don't like these Apps and I love Goodnotes !
Thank you!

Additionally, when using Shape Mode or the shape drawing tools, we hope that after completing a shape, the tool will not automatically switch back to the Lasso tool.
The current behavior requires users to repeatedly switch tools, which significantly interrupts workflow and reduces efficiency.Furthermore, we hope that in Read-Only Mode or Laser Pointer Mode, users can still interact with tape elements, including tapping to show or hide content. This would allow greater flexibility during presentations or review scenarios without forcing users to exit the current mode.
We also hope the software can better support the Apple Pencil Pro hover feature. Specifically, the hover indicator should remain consistently visible while the pencil is hovering, rather than disappearing after prolonged use.
Ideally, the hover marker should not require the pencil to move far away from the screen before reappearing.Alternatively, improvements could be made to refine the visual experience—such as making the color palette animations and the pencil shadow effects more polished and visually precise—to better align with the capabilities of Apple Pencil Pro.
