  1. Like in Apples Keynote App, when connected to a beamer I have the posibiltiy to make annotations for the current slice. There are different colored pens and a kind of Laserpointer tool (a glowing red dot or so). This is great for demonstrating things, whithout manipulating the current slice.

Same would be great for GoodNotes - as a teacher I use GoodNotes as a Replacement for the traditional board. At the moment I do a workaround by undoing the pencil strokes I made for showing things on the current sheet.

  2. I have been using Notability for my class notes for over a year and am just now starting to use Goodnotes 5 specifically for bullet journaling. There are a few features I love in Notability that I think would be great in Goodnotes:
    * Clickable bullet lists when typing in Text
    * Alignment guides to show when elements are aligned to each other at right, left, & center

And one other suggestion (not from Notability that I know of)... an optional line or dot grid that can be projected onto a page to help with alignment. Great if it can…

  3. Add the option to have no language selected for text recognition so you won't get the red dots under your handwriting in your own language

  4. It could be good that if the pen cursor of GoodNoted 5 for Mac is changed to the cursor in OneNote (simply a small dot instead of a cross).

  5. As a mathematics teacher and a regular user of GoodNotes 6, I greatly appreciate how the app supports digital teaching and note-taking. However, during my daily use—especially in teaching complex concepts—I found that a few additional features would significantly improve the experience, particularly for educators like me:
    1. Merge and Split Strokes: This would allow us to combine or separate drawn elements easily—very helpful when organizing mathematical constructions or diagrams.
    2. Edit Stroke Properties After Drawing: It would be beneficial to tap on a stroke and adjust its style (e.g., dashed, dotted, solid) or thickness, which is essential when…

  6. It would be of most use if a specific note on the sheet could be associated with an audio file saved in the notes. For example there could be a dot that prompts to the audio saved (the same way comments work), while also being able to change its name and description!

  7. As a neat workaround for the lack of infinitely large docs - give me a (dot) grid that is zoomable. So I zoom in, and instead of loosing orientation because I have to write 4 lines within one element, I want to see a finer grid appear as i zoom in. That helps to put and structure a lot more content on one page. (See figma or others that do this)

  8. Make it possible to "Magic Wand"-select a color that you need to crop away on a picture, so that you're left with only the image on the page, no white borders around it. (The same way it can be done in Photoshop or even Apple's Pages & Keynote)

e.g. Red dot on white square picture, becomes only the red dot that I can freely move around in GoodNotes, without hiding text behind the white border.

  9. Integrating a synchronization button within the three dots menu of a notebook would help synchronize it when working on it from a laptop or iPad, as there is a synchronization delay between the two devices. This would allow the user to avoid going back to the main menu to synchronize the notebook and then return to their work.

  10. When zoomed out, the cursor for the pen becomes a plus sign, which is not very easy to write with... It would be easier if the cursor were just a dot when zoomed in or when zoomed out.

  11. I'd like to be able to change my default Whiteboard background from Dot Grid & White.

    Could be done by:

    • Saving the last background used
    • Manually saving in the Whiteboard creation screen

    This would be very helpful!

  12. When you want to adjust the lenght of a Drawn line, a large Blue dot appears. This makes it impossible to Drag the line to the exakt Position you want. A magnifying Glass or a very small dot would be much more helpful here.

  13. Many functions you have placed in submenus could easily fit into their respective window headers, toolbars etc. - thereby becoming more obvious and faster/easier to access.
    examples:

    1) The filter for bookmarked pages in the page browser is now the single item in a submenu. Unnecessary - there is easily enough room for 4 tabs - even when viewed as sidebar and in portrait orientation. img_0387

    2) Select pages and sidebar/popup toggle hide behind a 3 dots menu in the page browser. Why? There is enough room there to show these directly. Esp. if you implement the toggle as one…

  14. The new Goodnotes Whiteboard feature is great, yet it doesn’t come in lined paper. I would really appreciate it, since the grid is very messy-looking and the dots are not precise enough for my wonky handwriting.

  15. I am seeing people migrate to drawing apps for note taking more and more now, I am a student.

The app “Concepts” is drawing app that has lately been covering note taking capabilities as well. They have 2 options for their tool menu:

A “linear” toolbar (like the one on Goodnotes 6) and a tool “wheel”. The wheel expands to a wheel shaped color palette when picking colors

Goodnotes needs to implement this option for people who want more space to navigate and take non-linear notes (like mind maps), while also keeping the regular toolbar (for people who who use…

  16. Good afternoon, I am writing to tell you that I have been a goodnotes user for approximately 5 years. I am testing the new update you have made, and I have a negative comment. I wanted to tell you that I have found the control of the shapes a little uncomfortable. When selecting a line for example, the blue dots that appear at the ends to edit the shape are a little annoying. Previously (a few months ago), when you selected a shape, those dots reduced their size to the thickness (approximately) of the shape line, even when zooming in.…

  17. Auto Backup Copy update was a great update from GoodNotes 5

However, a major problem has show up.

There is no option to automatically backup up PDF Copy with blank page layout.

This would be great to improve visibility in PDF Files. It’s kind odd my backup PDF keep the lines or dots on background of my notes.

  18. It would be great to have the option to design a template that has the same dimensions as the default ones. So that if you import a paper or cover design you can...

    • put it against the original dimensions
    • mark it up
    • rotate the orientation
    • add basic paper types (grids, lines, dots)... Better if you could choose the colour and spacing!
    • change background colour

This would be absolutely amazing, making it easy and quick to create simple to complex templates specific to their needs and preferences.

There are images and paper templates I’ve imported but it’s frustrating to have it…

  19. You can not delete the duplication until restart of the app. Then the old picture/text etc. disappears and only appears at the intended place. It‘s really annoying. Also if you zoom in to write sometimes parts of the strokes or dots disappear. You have to either overwrite it to fix it or erase/undo and write again.

  20. I love the possibility for bulleted and numbered lists, but would love more options like stars or smaller dots or squares. just more customisation in the text documents. like being able to change background colour maybe.
