1. Lasso tool desktop app

   I think the lasso tool doesn't work properly on desktop and isn't natural to use.
   To select text is it fine, but if you want to move a shape or text you have to clic on it to select and then move it. There should be a way for it to recognize the object and move on the first clic. Also, on mac you are able to duplicate something by pressing option and dragging it somewhere else. Text options should allow us to put indexes and exponants, this would be great for math formulas and we need more options for formulas in general, take inspiration from the equation integration in word.

   Hello, since the Goodnotes 7.0.6 update, using the Shape tool no longer produces a horizontally snapped (0°) underline.
   • Summary: Even when drawing a straight line with the Shape tool, it no longer creates a precisely 0°-snapped underline as before.
   • Steps to reproduce:
   1. Open a document → 2) Select the Shape tool → 3) Draw a straight line under text → 4) Result: There is no horizontal snap
   • Expected behavior: The Line from the Shape tool should snap to 0° so it can be used as an underline
   • Actual behavior: No snap is applied, causing a slight tilt; with high-volume underlining this degrades alignment and speed
   • Impact: During classes I draw hundreds to thousands of underlines per day. Currently, only the Ruler guarantees perfect horizontals, which adds extra handling (placement/movement of the ruler).
   • Workarounds tried:
   • Pen + Draw & Hold → requires a hold, which slows writing
   • Ruler at 0° → ensures horizontals but slows the workflow (angle setting/repositioning)

4. Allow user to write over the seam of two pages in vertical scroll

   I had this posted some time ago, and then someone mistakenly merged it into an unrelated feature, so I have to recreate it.

   The idea is simply to join pages of a PDF in vertical scroll such that the seam is either invisible or a thin line, and importantly to allow writing to bridge the page seam. Obviously the writing would break in terms of pdf pages, but so long as the break is invisible in vertical scroll, it would allow me to both use the white space between pages, but also to draw reference lines from the bottoms of one page to the top of the other.

5. Please bring back typing + handwriting in the same note

   I really miss the old version where I could type text and handwrite in the same note. Now I have to choose between typing or writing note, which honestly makes note taking so much harder.

   I know there’s the “text” option in the handwriting mode, but it’s just not the same… it doesn’t sync as neatly, and I waste so much time adjusting font size, boldness, spacing, etc. It totally breaks my focus and I end up missing a lot of info during class.

   Please, please bring back the ability to type and write in the same note again. It used to be so smooth and perfect

6. Make us go back to pencil mode after using eraser

   Since the new goodnotes (7) update, I always go back to latest tool I was using before the eraser, especially to the lasso tool, I do not want it, I want to be able to go back to pencil mode after the eraser again.

7. Typing Feature in Toolbar

   Please bring back the typing tool in handwritten documents as a separate button in the toolbar.
   Also, please fix the overlapping of the typing “toolbar” with the title when typing.

8. Make it quicker again

   Goodnotes has become more cumbersome and slower with the latest update. I now need two clicks to switch between pens and the laser pointer. When I have images, there is now always a white border at the top of the projection, and I first have to switch to read-only mode to display the image in full screen.
   The fold-out toolbox also takes up space on the screen.
   Adding to favorites also requires one more click.
   The updates have only increased the amount of work involved and represent a deterioration. On the other hand, I don't need AI or sound recordings. The new features take up space and displace existing ones.
   I would suggest that Goodnotes really allow you to customize it however you want. Without the AI button or record button, everything would still fit as before.

9. Shape tool is not as good as before

   Shape tool has become worse than goodnotes 6. Earlier we could draw any shape by drawing and holding the shape but now it converts every weird shape into a perfect shape line like square, rectangle or star
   Just make it as flexible as goodnotes 6 shape tool

10. Infinite canvas is not searchable

    The infinite canvas currently does not export as a searchable pdf file. When we export the file, it works like a picture which gets pixelated when we zoom
    So it would help a lot if we could search handwriting and text within the infinite canvas

11. Formas geométricas y lapicero a la vez

    Antes era posible usar las formas geométricas al mismo tiempo que se usaba el lapicero (y seguir usando el mismo color). Ahora es necesario entrar al menú de formas y volver a buscar el color que se está usando.

12. Selecting is a Pain in the A

    It requires a lot of effort just to select a text and after that it’ll say selected and it takes a lot effort for it to go back to normal, its super annoying and unfriendly.
    Also the textbox needs optimisation
    It should have the option of adjust the size on its own, especially when i am copy pasting something which has a lot of text it’ll go past the borders and making it sooo difficult to resize which itself is a big pain in the A
    Like it should have an option for fit to page or u can select how big of a chat box u want similar to how we use lasso and it’ll automatically adjust the text size and formatting accordingly
    So i feel like we need something else to select the textbox to edit it

14. Toggle that allows a Shaded Shape Without Outline

    Please bring back the ability to erase the outline while keeping the shaded fill after using the “hold to perfect shape” feature. It was super useful for creating clean shaded boxes and diagrams. A toggle to separate fill and outline would be amazing!

15. [Animations] Reduce opening animation time for folders and sidebars

    GoodNotes feels very slow and outdated when it comes to the slow animation when clicking on folders. Instead of feeling snappy and responsive the long animation leaves me feeling sluggish.

    The same goes for when I open the page view sidebar and the search sidebar. These slow opening animations are outdated and make GoodNotes feel unnecessary sluggish when compared to Notability’s snappy, simple animations.

16. OneDrive Sync & Backup

    Please can we have the ability to pull in documents (word, excel,PowerPoint, pdfs, images, videos) directly from OneDrive.

    It would be great if these could be live documents with the option to refresh them. If we were able to push notations on PDFs back it would be amazballs.

17. [Audio Recording] Prevent full menu from opening when unpausing in mini player

    Please make it so that every time you unpause a recording on the miniplayer, the whole menu does not automatically pop up (Video demonstration attached).
    It takes up a large part of the screen and moves the whole note page so I need to readjust every time, and when I play and pause one segment repeatedly I need to close it every time. I really enjoyed how it was in the previous update, where the bar was simply at the top next to a play/pause button. The new UI is fine, I just really don't want the whole menu popping up every time I press play. It could be a toggleable setting.

18. [Toolbar] Consolidate duplicate tools in split screen

    When the screen is split, the UI feels very intrusive. In particular, the recording icon appears on both screens and is quite large. The same goes for the Undo button. I think unused tools should be consolidated into one place, and the freed-up space could be used for tools that are actually needed. This idea aligns with your philosophy of being “all in one.”

19. [Sharing] Enable direct upload or sharing to ChatGPT and email

    Allow Notebooks from Goodnotes to be uploaded/shared (to Chatgpt/email/etc) directly from Goodnotes without needing to export it first, as it takes up double the space on the computer; plus it exports as a zip file when its more than 1 notebook, making bulk sharing/uploading very tedious

20. [Audio Recording] Allow recorded audio to be attached next to handwritten notes

    音楽の授業で、先生のお手本のフレーズをメモするために録音機能を使っています。手書きのメモの横に録音した素材を貼り付けることが出来たら、振り返りがもっと簡単になるのになぁと思っています。
    In music class, I use the recording function to write down the teacher's sample phrases. If you could paste the recorded material next to the handwritten memo, it would be easier to look back.
