  1. Want to make it so we can actively add sub-outlines that don't just exist in an imported PDF!!!

  2. I’ve seen lots of ideas about outlines and in conclusion I think a side view plus the ability to add outlines as one would see fit (wether it is notebooks within notebooks or just inside a document like in Word with headings and titles). This is really one of the biggest shortcomings of GoodNotes and makes the app always feel replaceble.

  3. It would be wonderful to create a file (A) that allowed me to compile pages from many other documents/files (B, C, D.....) into file A's outline instead of copying and importing into file A. This would help tremendously with research papers and consolidating information on one topic from multiple sources.

  4. Custom outlines to be organised according to page.

The new custom outlines i created now just jumped to the top of the older outlines, which makes my document organisation very messy and difficult to find the topics I want systemically.

  5. On long press on a page, it currently gives 3 options: Zoom, Add Link, and Add Comment. It would be so nice to have "Add Page to Outline" added to the list. It will save so many taps to the 3 dots.

  6. Using some sort of gesture (3 finger from screen left), to pull up the outline menu with collapsible levels integrated into it... to be able to quickly navigate between chapters within a document. Currently too many clumsy clicks to get there.

  7. Easy way of writing something and document automatically adds to page outline. For example, if I were to write “Chapter 2: Title”, GoodNotes will take that handwritten text and add it to the page outline. Either do it with a special pen, or a box used to highlight the text that is desired to be added. This way I don’t have write it, then go back and forth between the outline typing what I wrote.

  8. I type or dictate my notes, so they are typed on my mac.
It would be nice to be able to do an outline format for my notes.

this is a pain in goodnotes and since I don't just use it as a planner but a notetaking app it is something that is critical.

I've actually started checking out other apps for class and bsns notes.

  9. Allow users to make actual outlines in the outline tab, with main topics, subtopics, etc.

This would be especially beneficial for notebooks to allow further organization/structure.

  10. Functionality:
Using grid view you could import a long PDF sideways while being able to scroll the howl document down. You could name, hide/collapse and do other actions on sections by having a menu on the left and right of the page. Names could be saved in the outline feature.

    Use cases and benefits:
Grid view could be beneficial if you have a long PDF you import and want to make Notes on a separate page. You could split the screen, but this would be much more time-consuming.
It would also allow to skip a section of a document much…

  11. The problem I currently face when I export my notes in pdf format is that I can only export it with the outline preserved or with searchable characters but not with both features, which is vexing to say the least as both are essential for me to structure my notes.

It should not be a huge technological barrier for GoodNotes to break through, right? Thanks, I need this new feature stat.

  13. I would love a keyboard shortcut for adding custom outline entries. Right now, it takes several taps.

  14. An ability to have a sidebar for thumbnails etc so these are always available as a quick way to jump around a document rather than always having to open the separate window which is currently used. This would massively speed up workflow when working with large documents. Similar feature to what exists in Notability.

  15. I would like to create sections and subsections within a custom document. Currently I can only create a list of pages that compose the outline.

  16. Currently, there is no way to add new entries to the "PDF Outlines". In principle, I would want to avoid using bookmarks to add "structure" to my documents: IMO, bookmarks should be temporary placeholders, whereas the outline is a more permanent structure of headings and subheadings.

  17. Right now it is only possible to add an entire page to the Custom Outline or create a link to an entire page.

It would critically enhance productivity if users were able to select some parts of the notebook and add it as a section in the outline, or create a link to a specific section or line of text.

It should be possible to for instance mark some content such as handwritten text, an image, an Element, a Textbox etc. and either add it to the outline with a customized name, or create a link to some content.

  18. Now it only support one level outline, but it's far from enough for me. I really need multi-level outlines to better manage my notes, especially for many professional textbooks whose content is very complicated.

    Please add this feature!

And if the multi-level outlines can support expand and collapse according to the level, it will be much better!

    Thank you so much!

  20. Hi! I would LOVE to create my own outlines which I can drop onto a page & create a standard way to write up meetings / to-do / projects etc. Here is how I see the idea:

    • I create a standard meeting outline (for example area's for Attendees, Agenda, Action Items etc).
    • I tap on an icon and add the outline to an existing page.
    • The outline is "locked" by default. So I can erase writing without changing the outline. Another way to think about this - layers in Photoshop.
