Options Bar Update (October 2025)
Every time I select anything on screen with the lasso tool the options bar pops up BELOW my selection. Once I go to click out of my selection, the trash button is in the way and deletes my writing. Why on earth would the options bar pop up below when holding down on the selected area results in ANOTHER bar popping up on top of the selection. Super annoying and frustrating when the new position of the tool bar makes me delete everything I select with the lasso tool.

Bring back the ability to draw straight lines
After the latest update, drawing a straight line using the shapes tool is often impossible: If the line I'm trying to draw is close to another line it will snap to either a curved line or a straight line in a very different position from where I drew it. This is a major regression.
In the attached picture, I drew a square and attempted (several times) to draw a diagonal straight line from the top left corner to the bottom right corner. The first time it snapped to a vertical line, the second time it snapped to a horizontal line,…

Let users remove all AI bloat from app
I am not going to pretend that NOBODY uses Goodnotes AI but lets be real here, you guys must read what people say online, it is NOT as popular as the updates and focus on AI would make you believe.
But just because its trendy and a fraction of people use it, the rest of us are forced to have this stuff taking up spaces and hogging resources when it provides us with no use whatsoever.

I found an issue where custom fonts installed on iOS (e.g., via the Bakey font app) do not appear in the font list when Goodnotes 6 uses the new Whiteboard-enabled UI.
Here are the details:
✔ Old UI (no Whiteboard option)
“New note” menu does not show the Whiteboard button
Font toolbar is in the top ribbon
Custom fonts appear normally
✔ New UI (with Whiteboard — released around Sep 25, 2025)
“New note” menu includes a Whiteboard button
Font toolbar becomes a floating popup near the text box

Allow us to PIN a few tabs from all the currently open tabs
So let's say I'm opening 20 different lectures on goodnotes at the same time as well as one file with a checklist of all my lectures. Once I finish I lecture I have to go searching and hunting around all my open tabs for that checklist file in order to tick that lecture off. It's very annoying. I really want to just pin that checklist file because its something I like to keep open on goodnotes all the time and its a document I need to return to all the time. Fix the typing features ASAP
The typing feature really needs some attention guys. Tell me why when I try to type a page of notes the whole thing glitches out and either won't save my stuff or doubles all the words I've written on top of each other. You also can't continue typing onto a new page like it suggests. This new update also lowkey made the feature worse because now you can't just click on a page to type and you also have to click back to the textbox icon every time you want to drop a box. Make the voice imported or exported within the file or alone
My idea is make the voice imported from voice memo or export it alone or within the file itself ( as in the pdf expert and document app ) as shown in the photo below
Please voice this as it is crucial for every persone to save there files for the future

Font size
It became unable to designate font size less than 8pt since last update.

add a calculator feature! just a small floating basic/scientific calculator.
it would make goodnotes so much more useful. now if i want to use goodnotes and the calculator on my ipad i have to screen split and only have goodnotes in 3/4 of my screen!! so annoying

Rectangle shape WITHOUT text
With the new update - as soon as you insert a rectangle using the shape tool (love that you get a perfect rectangle every time by the way thanks for this!), it automatically assumes you want to add text. I NEVER do. I do want to resize it though. So I have to click off it to resize it. I would prefer to have the default option of rectangle without text and then, as it is now, to click in the middle of the textbox to add text.

Lasso Tool + Text Box + Shapes
For the lasso tool, be able to select shapes and handwriting because sometimes they are drawn together and when you want to move the whole thing, it only selects the shape (even though select shape + handwriting is on).
For the text box, have the grey box with the size, colour, etc. be somewhat transparent so that the underlying background can still somewhat be seen (helps when typing something that is said in the background).
For the shapes, have an option to not combine shapes when putting them on top of each other.

Goodnotes ist seit dem letzten update nichtmehr für eine gute Arbeit zu gebrauchen es ist umständlicher…. einfach die Tastatur ausklappen am tablet und los schreiben geht nicht es ist eine Schande es so kaputt zu machen so hart muss ich es mal sagen ich arbeite jeden tag 8 stunden mit goodnotes und jetzt könnte ich es in die tonne schmeißen weil es nicht mehr akzeptabel ist. macht was….. egal was…..

can’t make font size larger than 100pt
I used to have a title of each notebook with a large font size. In the latest Goodnotes 7 I am unable to obtain a font larger than 100. That’s a problem. Can you help me with that?

Shape editing was better in Goodnotes 6
I regularly use the shape to draw curved lines and then edit their shape to create larger, more complex shapes. Currently, that‘s next to impossible:
- Editing points don‘t scale with zooming; especially when editing small lines, the points now cover up the lines entirely.
- These lines are often glitched out and turn invisible while editing, especially when multiple lines are connected together.
- After editing a line, Goodnotes automatically selects the lasso tool instead of the pen, making the drawing process very tedious.None of these issues occured with Goodnotes 6, I hope these issues are fixed with…

handwriting disappears on sticky notes
When writing on a sticky note sometimes the text I wrote, not typed, will disappear behind the sticky note. I have to collapse the sticky note and reopen it in order for the text to show on top of the note.

Feature request: auto-add date and folder name when creating new files
It would be really helpful if, when creating a new notebook or whiteboard, GoodNotes could automatically include the current date (e.g. “September 1, 2025”) and optionally the name of the folder (e.g. “NameFolder – September 1, 2025”) in the file name.
This would greatly improve file organization, especially for users who create many documents daily (like teachers) and want to keep everything tidy without having to rename files manually.4 votes -
[Apple Pencil Pro (squeeze) palette] Support toolbar customization
We all use different tools more frequently, and the new squeeze-to-display-palette with the Apple Pencil Pro is fantastic, but it isn't reflecting the new customized order we make in the top toolbar. And of course it should, it seems to me.

Highlighter synchronization on iPad and MacBook
It would be nice if the highlighters and pictures you insert on the MacBook would not change its position on my iPad. whenever i highlight something on my iPad or on my MacBook or even insert a picture, the same page on the other device is a little shifted and not on the original position.
I uploaded a picture: I wrote the text on my MacBook and highlighted on my iPad. The highlighter on the my MacBook was then shifted from its original position on my iPad. The highlighter on my iPad is still on the original position.4 votes
