Notebook Synchronization
Integrating a synchronization button within the three dots menu of a notebook would help synchronize it when working on it from a laptop or iPad, as there is a synchronization delay between the two devices. This would allow the user to avoid going back to the main menu to synchronize the notebook and then return to their work.

Idea Goodnotes for Maths
As a mathematics teacher and a regular user of GoodNotes 6, I greatly appreciate how the app supports digital teaching and note-taking. However, during my daily use—especially in teaching complex concepts—I found that a few additional features would significantly improve the experience, particularly for educators like me:
1. Merge and Split Strokes: This would allow us to combine or separate drawn elements easily—very helpful when organizing mathematical constructions or diagrams.
2. Edit Stroke Properties After Drawing: It would be beneficial to tap on a stroke and adjust its style (e.g., dashed, dotted, solid) or thickness, which is essential when…1 vote -
Add option for a tool wheel
I am seeing people migrate to drawing apps for note taking more and more now, I am a student.
The app “Concepts” is drawing app that has lately been covering note taking capabilities as well. They have 2 options for their tool menu:
A “linear” toolbar (like the one on Goodnotes 6) and a tool “wheel”. The wheel expands to a wheel shaped color palette when picking colors
Goodnotes needs to implement this option for people who want more space to navigate and take non-linear notes (like mind maps), while also keeping the regular toolbar (for people who who use…

Improve Auto-Backup Copy PDF Files
Auto Backup Copy update was a great update from GoodNotes 5
However, a major problem has show up.
There is no option to automatically backup up PDF Copy with blank page layout.
This would be great to improve visibility in PDF Files. It’s kind odd my backup PDF keep the lines or dots on background of my notes.

Design custom template function
It would be great to have the option to design a template that has the same dimensions as the default ones. So that if you import a paper or cover design you can...
- put it against the original dimensions
- mark it up
- rotate the orientation
- add basic paper types (grids, lines, dots)... Better if you could choose the colour and spacing!
- change background colour
This would be absolutely amazing, making it easy and quick to create simple to complex templates specific to their needs and preferences.
There are images and paper templates I’ve imported but it’s frustrating to have it…

Get the bugs fixed. There is a bug that duplicates text or pictures if you move it.
You can not delete the duplication until restart of the app. Then the old picture/text etc. disappears and only appears at the intended place. It‘s really annoying. Also if you zoom in to write sometimes parts of the strokes or dots disappear. You have to either overwrite it to fix it or erase/undo and write again.

Lined Paper for Whiteboard
The new Goodnotes Whiteboard feature is great, yet it doesn’t come in lined paper. I would really appreciate it, since the grid is very messy-looking and the dots are not precise enough for my wonky handwriting.

Shape editing
Good afternoon, I am writing to tell you that I have been a goodnotes user for approximately 5 years. I am testing the new update you have made, and I have a negative comment. I wanted to tell you that I have found the control of the shapes a little uncomfortable. When selecting a line for example, the blue dots that appear at the ends to edit the shape are a little annoying. Previously (a few months ago), when you selected a shape, those dots reduced their size to the thickness (approximately) of the shape line, even when zooming in.…

Text Box
Text Box for MacOS another fix.
The mouse coursor on MacOS doesn't change when hovering over the dot to resize the text box. So you have no indication if you are resizing or not. it continues to show the insert text cursor.

Shape editing tools
Hello guys, I've been using both notability and goodnotes for over almost 2 years now and latelly notabilitu has been pulling appart, but over notability, gn still has the versatility of the app, but theres a tool that i use everysingle day and that it is soooo much better on notability than on goodnotes, thats not even fair.. it’s the hold to snap / auto shape tool. I know we already have the snap to other shapes feature, but that is basically useless unless you’re using straight lines.. I would like for you to implement some kind of powerfull shape…

Auto advance shortcut
Currently enabling or disabling auto advance requires 4 'clicks': 1. the 'three dots' menu button 2. document editing 3. enabling/disabling auto advance 4. closing the menu window.
As someone who frequently switches between marking up documents (where I don't use auto advance) and my own notebooks (where I do use auto advance), it can be annoying to have to go through this process tens of times per day.
It would be nice if there was a shortcut, or if one could optionally pin the auto advance option to the toolbar.
Cheers!

single tap to open a link
Currently you have to long press a link, then choose open link from a menu. This is very time consuming, especially if you are using a daily planner template. yes, you can put the app into "view mode" then it will work in single tap. but that is also time consuming. Please give us the open to single tap in the edit mode. You may be saying "but a single tap will appear as though it's the user trying to write with the pen tool". Well, you could do a little gesture recognition and determine if it's a finger or…

less submenus
Many functions you have placed in submenus could easily fit into their respective window headers, toolbars etc. - thereby becoming more obvious and faster/easier to access.
examples:1) The filter for bookmarked pages in the page browser is now the single item in a submenu. Unnecessary - there is easily enough room for 4 tabs - even when viewed as sidebar and in portrait orientation. img_0387
2) Select pages and sidebar/popup toggle hide behind a 3 dots menu in the page browser. Why? There is enough room there to show these directly. Esp. if you implement the toggle as one…

Toggle for "Hold to Zoom"
It would be nice to have the option to disable hold to zoom as this will often pop up when I am writing any dots, periods, or multiplication signs (I like to make them fairly visible).
I'm fairly sure Notability has this, so it would be nice to have this option in this app as well.2 votes -
Too many ‘click’ or steps to convert text.
It takes too many steps to convert handwriting.
1; circle /select handwriting
2: tap circle, hope the menu comes up
3: tap the 3 dots button
4: tap convert
5: tap text
6: tap convert again
7: change font because the default settings don’t apply to converted textShould be 2 steps
1: circle/select handwriting
2: tap a convert buttonIf it makes a mistake, you’d have to edit it anyway. So the pop up is redundant.
I know this is possible because your code is already ‘converting’ the handwriting in order to be able to spellcheck and search handwritten…

Make lasso selection faster
Over the last several updates the lasso tool has gotten a delay when you try to select something. It happens when you select something with a small lasso area. Larger lasso areas do not create this delay. I'm not sure if this is intentional, but it's made the lasso tool much less user friendly.
Here are some steps to reproduce the issue.
1. Create a line or dot with the highlighter tool
2. Select the lasso tool (either regular or rectangular) and select the highlighted dot using a small circle
3. Note that the dot is not selected for up…1 vote -
Different fonts for the bullet list
I love the possibility for bulleted and numbered lists, but would love more options like stars or smaller dots or squares. just more customisation in the text documents. like being able to change background colour maybe.

macOS sidecar with iOS + pencil pointers
using sidecar to draw in the macOS version from iPad. I notice it uses the default pointer all the time. I wonder if it could be change to something more meaningful eg when drawing use a dot.
1 voteSidecar is already supported for the Mac version. We’ll note your request for other pointers.

You can change the location of the fork number of the closed file.
When opening only one file, the location of the closed file and the location of the three dots on the split screen on the iPad are too close to each other, so it is easy to click wrong!

Enhancing renaming user experience
Renaming notes while it's open became an issue after the last iPad OS update. Most of the time it opens multiple tab-opening options. It will be great if GoodNotes align their renaming option a bit far from those three horizontal dots.
