  1. For me the lack of auto straight lines and geometric figures after a long press is really one of those dealbreakers.. i know you have the tool for that, but that tool is simply too simple, you can't edit the shapes properly and you cant interact 2 circles and make them have the same center and change the radius of each one, or move just one corner of a triangle , etc.. this is THE FEATURE you should really really copy from notability, and its the real dealbreaker for me

We’re happy to announce that the update 5.6.0 that we released today adds an improved shape recognition including the option to hold at the end of a line to make a perfect shape, shape selection & editing, and curve drawing. It further improves the recognition of circles and squares and adds back the ability to draw shapes with the highlighter.

  2. Sometimes I write an entire word in cursive and when I am done I realize shape recognition was on and the word becomes unreadable. I want to be able to press 'undo' and undo only the shape recognition step, recovering the word I just wrote. This is an intuitive way to make the program more useful without complicating the interface. It would also allow me to use 'undo' and 'redo' repeatedly to compare the results with and without shape recognition and decide if I want to keep them.

In addition: after I draw a triangle without shape recognition, allow me…

  3. I am a new user I really enjoy this app but there are some features that will be handy for all for us users of Goodnotes 5. Starting with a setting of margins for the templates ( I print my notes to put them on a binder and some of my notes gets cut of with the hole puncher), a ruler (this will be super handy, I know I can use the shape tool but there's people that work with measurements)

  4. Dear GoodNotes Team,

I am a regular user of GoodNotes and I truly appreciate its intuitive interface and powerful tools for working with PDFs and handwritten notes. However, there is one feature that I—and many others in fields like architecture, engineering, and construction—am missing:

👉 The ability to draw a line and automatically see its real-world length based on a set scale.

Currently, it is only possible to measure distances using the ruler tool and manually set a scale. But when I draw a freehand line (without the ruler), GoodNotes does not display the length of that line. This…

  5. I would like to be able to move the divider between the colors and tools to the left to allow a greater selection of colors to be available. I remember this was a thing before in Goodnotes, where the ruler and laser pointer were behind the divider and I could access a greater number of colors and/or line thickness.

As a user who rarely uses anything past the lasso tool and sometimes the image insert but uses several colors in my notes it would very useful!

    2. Same problem to Arrow which is a triangle, I know you add new thing to show arrow but u should try try yourself I think it still need more update to be user funny, like I can’t even change to arrow’s…

  6. The isometric grid paper template that comes with GoodNotes is drawn with the incorrect angle. The angle between the horizontal and diagonal lines should be 30 deg. The template’s angle is 26.5 deg. The angle between two diagonal lines should be 60 deg. Template’s angle is 53 deg. [I measured it with the new ruler feature]

  7. l would like to make a recommendation: l would like to be able to choose which tools to keep in/ which to temporarily hide in from the toolbox at the top of my notes. For example I enjoy the tape, ruler and pencil, but don't use them enough so instead they get in the way

  8. It’s extremely crucial for me to be able to make guides for documents (of course being able to have them visible or not anytime I need to). I can’t stand the fact that I can’t align, for example, stickers in a precise row or column.
Using grid paper doesn’t help me at all, I want to have an option so that stickers, text boxes etc snap to guides made by me (I was hoping „ruler” feature will help with that, but alas, it didn’t).

  9. Wanna divide {ONLY Straight Line} button from {Square,Triangle,Circle} button because whenever I write / before conjunction or kinda adverb, it always becomes curve.

Also, that suggested {ONLY Straight Line} button needs to include Highlighter, too. Because that Highlighter's straight option does not works well and it highlights as curve. But my book in PDF does not curved.

I want to study in a effective way with fast writing straight lines instead of drawing fine art curve. But currently, Goonotes5 on iPad enforce me art on my textbook PDF.

So JUST make {ONLY Straight Line} button including pen and…

  10. Im talking like a quick pull coordinates graph, rulers, ability to type equations, make tables, and most importantly a much better shape recognition (it is tough to achieve since GN5 uses vector instead of pixels and this can be solved by making a shape menu that you can drag and drop into the page)

Also, I would die for a "dublicate" option in the menu like in notability instead of having to copy and paste every single time!

  11. 1.In the Zoom Window, eraser, frequently used color, backward, etc. have disappeared. It is annoying because the move is long.

2.After all, it does not seem to support two page views at a time.

3.No highlighter in Drawing Shapes. Drawing shape with Highlighters are only linear ...
At Goodnote 4, i can draw circle, triangle, etc with highlighter.

4.There is still no changing the template at once ....
When I write i use grid and i print i with only white page.
I have to change it every single page.

5.On the preview page, version 4 shows the current…

  12. I use Goodnotes every day, and here are my suggestions:

    1. PENCIL TOOL for a more organic feeling while writing.
    2. FLOATING TOOLBAR or at least a left side option for the tools.
    3. RULER TOOL for a more organic and intuitive workflow.
    4. FILL TOOL so I can fill my drawings and shapes.
    5. BOOK STYLE with two pages per view in landscape mode.
    6. LINES OR DOTTED GRID (not a dotted paper, but a visualization mode)
    7. PEN SIZE bigger to make fill areas easier while drawing
    8. CREATE HYPERLINK on certain words/shapes to other pages or websites.
    9. AUTO DESELECT for Lasso Tool
    10. VOICE NOTE

  13. Sorry, i really think that good notes was the best app overall to writing and using as notebook, but there's so much more user friendly features in notability that i cant live without.. and i used both apps arround the same time. Ill say the features you could had to make this app simply perfect:
    — the lack of a dark theme unless we get system wide dark mode is a bummer as i find your dark theme pretty good but i hate to use ios in dark mode
    — the tool bar has too many items and takes valuable…

  14. Tap a crosshairs icon on the toolbar to add a crosshairs placement tool (similar to the ruler) that automatically disappears after the very next object has been placed on the page at the crosshairs.

The crosshair’s lines are measure marked and extend automatically AND continually to all four page edges (similar to the ruler). But, the node at the center of the crosshairs specifies the exact placement for the very next object placed on the page. The lines on the crosshairs locate that node relative to the edges of the page.

    To use the tool:

    1) Tap once…

  15. The latest Goodnotes doesn’t let you type in a hex code to change the TEXT color on a SHAPE. This happens on the Custom tab of the Color Change pop-up window when you select the text on a shape and then click the color dot on the pop-up menu to change the TEXT color. Goodnotes doesn’t let you insert your cursor into the Hex Code box. There are just a bunch of zeroes in the Hex Code box that you can’t overwrite.
The shapes themselves can be updated using a typed-in hex code, but not their built-in text. This problem…

  17. ● add a color picker tool, how hard is that?
    ● add more than three colors to your paper templates (pink, blue, green, purple,...etc) THAT DON'T REQUIRE MORE MONEY of course. Add them like it is a default. Not only (dark grey, yellow and white) it would be perfect if we can make the color chosing the color wheel.

    ● add rulers and a protractor 📏 📐
●add a way of being able to change the entire app appearance (like the color of the bar and the background, and the shape of the folder, like we can make the…

  18. Hello,

I have a Samsung Tab S6 Lite 2022 and I'm currently using Samsung Notes for my school notes, but I miss a reliable way to measure and draw lines of specific angles and lengths, as well as a tool to draw circkes of a specific radius. I've seen some other students use GoodNotes on iPads and they seem to have a ruler (I'm not sure for the "circle with radius" thing but I think they also have that).

Also, Samsung Notes does really bad at supporting portrait orientation, which I saw from the iPad users should be usable even…
