1. Save Untitled Pages to Existing Notebook

   I have an iOS shortcut that opens a new, untitled document with just a quick tap so that, when the office phone rings, I’m ready with something to write on. When the phone call is over, the process of saving the untitled document into an existing notebook (which is very common), involves 15 (!) steps: 1) open page view of newly created document; 2) tap “select”; 3) select pages to copy; 4) tap “copy”; 5) tap “done”; 6) tap “close”; 7) tap “save as untitled”; 8) navigate to the existing notebook; 9) open notebook; 10) open page view; 11) click plus symbol to add page; 12) tap “paste page”; 13) tap “close”; 14) navigate back to the untitled document; 15) delete untitled document. Whew!

   This could be SO much easier if GoodNotes offered the option to append the newly created pages into an existing notebook when the user exited (along with the “save as untitled” option). One super-easy step to just drop it at the end of an existing notebook (or beginning for reverse-chrono folks)! Please consider! Thanks!

3. Ink drawn on top of imported elements jump behind when you try to

   Subject: Ink layer jumps behind imported graph elements when selected in GoodNotes 7

   Description:
   When using GoodNotes 7 (currently on version 7.0.8), any ink drawn on top of an imported image or element (for example, a coordinate-grid or graph) behaves incorrectly after being selected.

   Steps to reproduce:
   1. Insert an image or element (such as a coordinate grid) onto the page.
   2. Send the image to the back.
   3. Draw a parabola or any ink stroke on top of the grid using the Pen tool (optionally with Shape Recognition enabled).
   4. After the ink snaps into shape, tap it once to select or move it.

   Expected behavior:
   The ink should remain visible on top of the graph while being moved, resized, or edited—allowing accurate alignment with graph points.

   Actual behavior:
   As soon as the ink is selected, it automatically moves behind the image or element, making it nearly impossible to see or adjust precisely. Once deselected, the ink jumps back in front again. This repeats every time the object is moved.

   Impact:
   This issue makes graphing, geometry, and math-related note-taking extremely difficult, as it prevents precise manipulation of shapes and curves over imported coordinate grids.

4. Shape Tool: Horizontal snap for underlines (no hold required)

   TL;DR
   Please add (or restore) horizontal snapping in the Shape Tool so near-horizontal strokes become perfectly straight underlines without draw-and-hold.

   Problem
   In Goodnotes 7.0.6, to get a perfectly straight underline I must use Pen/Highlighter and pause for draw-and-hold on every stroke. This breaks flow when underlining many items per page.

   Current behavior
   • Pen/Highlighter: can “perfect” a line with draw-and-hold.
   • Shape Tool: lacks horizontal snap for quick, hold-free underlines.

   Proposal
   • Add horizontal snapping in Shape Tool: if the stroke angle is within a tolerance of horizontal (e.g., ±5–10°), snap to 0°/180° automatically.
   • Provide a quick toggle on the toolbar (e.g., Underline mode or “Require Hold to Snap”: Off).

   Nice-to-have options
   • Tolerance slider (e.g., ±3/5/8/10°).
   • Shortcuts: double-tap Apple Pencil, or a keyboard shortcut to toggle “Underline mode.”

   Impact
   • Underlining dozens of terms per slide is common in study sessions; removing the hold reduces hundreds of pauses per session and keeps handwriting flow intact.
   • Especially valuable for students/researchers annotating dense PDFs at speed.

   Environment
   • Goodnotes 7.0.10 (iPad)

5. Record Teaching Video that hides tool bar but WITHOUT using any screen sharing like airplay

   I would like to record a teaching video and annotate the good notes document on the iPad without using the presentation function. That means: when I am screen recording using goodnotes, the tool bar is visible to me but it could not be seen in the recorded video.

   According to this article (https://support.goodnotes.com/hc/en-us/articles/208876886--GoodNotes-4-How-to-record-a-video-lecture-), it should be on the roadmap, but how come it still not launch?

   It would be a great improvement in the functionality and practicality of GoodNotes! Please do consider this!

   Thanks for sharing your feedback. The article you referenced included outdated information that we haven’t updated. To accomplish what you want, you can simply crop the video in the Photos app of your iPad to remove the toolbar. This was introduced in iPadOS 13.

6. Text analysis: enable coding / tagging of text passages

   I use GoodNotes for my studies and often have to summarize texts / papers or analyze them with regards to specific topics. What would be really helpful there if you can mark and associate specific parts of the text (e.g., some words, a sentence, etc.) with a chosen term ("tag" / "code") and have a view where you can filter for all of the passages marked with that tag. Researchers use that similarly for qualitative data analysis with dedicated programs (see for example: https://atlasti.com/2017/03/16/make-best-codes-atlas-ti/). However, an app combining convenient hand-written notes and coding seems not to be on the market - maybe that would be something for you? ;)

7. Allow to accept shared documents also from Mac App

   running good notes on my private AppleID (=iCloud) and using it on my business Mac, too is today not possible. I'd even open to buy it twice, but I habe only 1 mobile device - so basically though I love good notes, I can't use it anymore.

   Solution:
   Allow to accept shared documents also from Mac App. This way I can still use it on my iPad and iPhone and notes I neet @work could simply be shared with my business AppleID.

   This would provide a solution for many other feature requests such as

8. Cornell template without lines

   Similar to what is mentioned here: https://feedback.goodnotes.com/forums/191274-customer-suggestions-for-goodnotes/suggestions/41779732-cornell-page-setting-without-line

   I'd like a Cornell note taking template without lines and that is more space efficient. The dimension for the Title seems a bit too large and unecessary for instance.
   Most importantly, we should have the opportunity to change the paper template such that we can choose dotted or blank paper. This feature is no longer available on Goodnotes (but appears to have been previously).

9. flash cards types image occlusion true false and ability to archive decks

   1. the biggest limitation with my flashcards at the moment is having to manually draw a box for image occlusion cards. then colour in the box myself with opaque ink. as there is not an auto fill function for shapes where you can adjust the transparency of the colour, or "tape" option i can use to cover parts of the image. it would be great to be able to build easy image occlusion cards by simply selecting the area i want occluded.

   2. more options on card type like true false, fill in the word ect.

   3. archive function. i'm now a year 3 med student and my cards i made in year 1 i still come up in my to do pile i have no way to archive them which is frustrating as i now have ALOT of cards. and dont need to review all of them all the time.

   4. Card tab, where all of the card decks are visible. currently i have to favourite them all but they get lost in that tab unless i sort by doc type.

   5. streak page to see how many days we are doing cards and to build consistency in certain topics as currently the decks come up and it not random enough to cover a bit of everything so i may be biased to click a deck i know ill get done quickly or has less cards to do instead of what topics are most urgent.
      or the ability to add our streak into our calendar eg outlook, apple, google so we can see at a glance our consistency. then in app a more thorough break down of decks topics and cards we have gotten right/ wrong overtime

   6. quick edit function i sometimes see cards i've miss spelt or formatted wrong and it hard to try and find them again.

   7. search function in the decks themselves that also searches images. finding info on cards can be very difficult at times.

   8. importing a CSV file of auto made cards but with the ability to convert our own handwriting into a font of its own so the cards are still written in our writing for better recognition.

    I used to write with a fountain pen all the time but switched to iPad because I had so many notebooks it was getting a bit ridiculous trying to go back through my notes. One thing I miss so much is the way ink looks on a page, particularly inks with hi sheen and shading. Colours vary in intensity at different points on the page, some completely change depending on the amount of ink laid down and it really makes writing enjoyable and makes revising notes oddly satisfying. Please add some form of this to GoodNotes as an option when selecting colours, It would make the writing experience amazing and would work so well with the fountain pen tool.

11. No delay while using sidecar with Mac and iPad

    This is all about sidecar. If you don't know what that is, here's a link that explains what it is: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT210380.

    I use my iPad as the second display of my mac so I can be on zoom on my laptop and take notes on my iPad by typing on my laptop - this is easier than typing on my iPad. This really makes it convenient for me as a student. However, one thing I noticed is that there is a HUGE delay between my action and reaction. Basically, when I scroll on my mouse, it takes 1-2 secs for goodnotes to actually scroll. The same thing also happens when I write with my apple pencil: there is also a delay, just like the delay in the scroll.

    So, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE solve this issue, and I'm sure it would be a way better experience with goodnotes after that fix. Thank you very much!

    Could you please check if it would also happen in other apps? If the delay is only very noticeable, please send us an email to support@goodnotes.com and include a video where we can see how it looks like for you. It is likely a bug that we will need to fix.

13. Bring back the old "Hold page" Presentation Mode interface

    When using Presentation Mode with AirPlay set as "Mirror Presenter Page," GoodNotes used to hold the displayed tab when going back into the file interface. This was very effective for avoiding distraction for students when looking for a new file to display. It appears that in mid May with no explanation this feature was removed.

    Now, when pressing the "back" button to browse files, the AirPlay display now shows the file interface, rather than holding the displayed page frozen.

    This feature was critical to how I used GoodNotes in my classroom, and I hope it could be reverted, even is as a toggle feature in Settings.

    I imagine others may be surprised when as "back to school" season approaches that this interface was changed. Please upvote if this was important to you as well.

16. Add an extension to the desired font size when magnifying pen letters

    If you write with a pen or type text and choose an object with a classo tool and enlarge it, the letters will be enlarged completely, such as 100%, 150%, and 200%. For example, I wrote in the size of a 0.8mm thick and thick pen, but I zoomed in and reduced it to the classo tool because I think there was not enough space to write or the letters were too small. However, when I zoomed in/enlarged, the result displayed appears as if it were 0.2mm/2.00mm thick. I would like to add a function that can be modified to the thickness and thickness written in 0.8mm when magnified/reduced when it was 0.8mm.

    Make android math convert available for android user.

    In my iPhone 8, a button to close the font menu is covered with a status icons on top of my iPhone, and it is incapable.
    I'm sorry just to use it with a very convenient app.

19. Expand Pencil Grades and Add a Mechanical Pencil Tool in GoodNotes

    I would like to suggest expanding the pencil tool in GoodNotes by adding a full range of pencil hardness options, including:

    12B, 11B, 10B, 9B, 8B, 7B, 6B, 5B, 4B, 3B, 2B, B, HB, F, H, 2H, 3H, 4H, 5H, 6H, 7H, 8H, 9H, and 10H.

    In addition, it would be great to include a mechanical pencil (sharp pencil) tool, which would be especially useful for precise writing, diagrams, and technical notes.

    These additions would provide users with more realistic and flexible drawing and writing experiences, similar to traditional pencils.

20. Smaller Default Photo Size

    The default landscape photo size is such that I can't quite fit two across the width of a 8.5" x 11" sheet. It would be helpful if they were inserted a bit smaller so two would readily fit side by side.
