Preserve outline in PDF during automatic backup
If you export a single document as PDF and set the setting to "Editable", the outline is preserved. The PDF's which are created by the automatic backup (Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive) do not contain the outline, because they are saved as "Flattened". Please add an option to automatically save the documents as "Editable-PDF" in the cloud.
Alternatively, an option for a one-time backup of the whole library in GoodNotes to "Editable-PDF" would be a great option. At the moment the option "Backup Data" can only be used to create a backup in the Good-Notes file system.43 votes -
Organize comments in outline section
Glad you added comments! Earlier I requested a collapsible post it, it this is better! I wish I could see all comments in one place, like in the outline section. Attached is a place you could do it!

Automatically scroll to, and highlight, outline closest to current page in document view area when opening outline section of page grid view
When opening the page grid view, and clicking on the outline section (as opposed to thumbnails section), it would be awesome if the outline section would automatically scroll down (and highlight/bolden) the outline that is closest to (but before or on) the current page the user is editing/looking at in the documents view page. Currently, every time the outline section of the page grid view is selected, the list shows the very top of the outline list, and the user has to scroll down to outlines that are relevant to the current page, as opposed to the outline section…

two feature requests for the outline
Hello. I would like to thank you for contributing to my convenience by creating GoodNotes and for always trying to make GoodNotes more user-friendly.
I have two feature requests for the outline.
1. I would like to be able to reduce the text size of the outline.
When I open the outline in the sidebar, the outline title is almost completely cut off.
When you open a PDF in Preview on Mac OS, I think the size of the outline title on the side is appropriate. Even if it is not the exact same size, it would be…1 vote -
Colour tagging an outline page
Ability to tag an outline page with a colour so that I can make outlines in a document the way one would stick post it notes to the edge of a book. The ability to write a brief summary under the outline label which could be expanded would be incredibly helpful, allowing users to write a brief summary of the page.

"Convert Handwriting to Text” directly to Add to Outline
A common action that I perform in Goodnotes is the "Convert Handwriting to Text” and use that converted text as an Outline in my document. What would be nice is there was an option from the converted text window to save the converted text directly to an outline. I’ve attached a screen recording of the steps I currently go through to add an outline title.

Adding an outline by selected text in a PDF
I work a lot with imported PDF and want to organize them with outlines. I usually select a headline on a page, copy the text, select Add Outline (with two clicks) and insert the copied text.
I'd really like to select a text and have the option to directly add an outline in the context/selection menu (directly besides marking or copying the text).
This would mean only 3-4 clicks instead of 8.5 votes -

Toggle that allows a Shaded Shape Without Outline
Please bring back the ability to erase the outline while keeping the shaded fill after using the “hold to perfect shape” feature. It was super useful for creating clean shaded boxes and diagrams. A toggle to separate fill and outline would be amazing!

Preserve outline filter preference
There should be an option to automatically filter your document outlines. I continue to toggle off pdf outline to only view my custom outlines but every time I make a new document or even leave the app, all the outlines are back again making it hard to navigate sections of my notebook.

Please put in the eraser mode to erase only the pen.

Lasso selects outer objects from nested shapes
I use lasso tool to move parts of my diagrams. Until last update, it was selecting only shapes under selected area. I was able to select inner shape from a nested shape. Unfortunately now every time I select a nested shape, the outer shape also move along. This is happening when outer shape is perfect shape (with shape tool). Kindly disable this feature or provide mode to select option.

Outline and bookmarks to appear as a side menu
In the iPad version, bookmarks and the outline appear as a pop-up, but it would be more convenient if they could appear as a side menu, the same way they appear in the MacOS version.
This would enhance navigation in the iPad version as we can then keep the bookmark/outline bar open to quickly move to different sections of a file, and then close the side-menu when not needed.

[Outline] Sub-Outlines / Tabs / Navigation in the notes
When I import some PDFs their outlines are imported too. I love this feature. I have noticed that when this happens, the outlines have sub-outlines to make navigating the outlines easier.
However, I can not create this in my own GoodNotes outlines. It only works when I import a PDF that already has this structure built into it.
I would like to have a feature in GoodNotes where I can create sub-outlines in my notebooks.

Keep "Show pdf-outline" setting as selected
Some pdf documents imported to a goodnotes folder to already have a lot of annoying outlines in them. Goodnotes helps you with not showing them by selecting that in the outline section with a checkmark.
After closing the folder and opening it again, the checkmark is set back to "show pdf-outline", so it originally shows the pdf-outline all the time which is super annoying.
Could you please import the feature that the checkmark stays as selected by the user, so that he can decide for every single folder if he wants to see the pdf-outline…

Outline window should move automatically linked with main window
In a document like 400 pages long, you will need to know where you are in the entire document, then Outline window is necessary. Currently the outline window is not linked to the main window, that means when you open 113 page in the main window, the outline window when opened shows first few pages(not linked to the main). You will need to scroll the outline window down to 113 pages, this is not helpful and kills the usefulness of outline window function. The paper based note has power of “at a glance” recognition/grasp of entire document size, PDF need…

Add outline editing, so we can create a TOC to navigate in
I would like to be able to create and edit the outline section, and make it exportable into a PDF document, too!
That would give me a table of contents at hand which would make it a breeze to navigate around chapters of my documents.10 votes -

view full outline title in side bar
I like the new feature where the outlines can be viewed in a side bar alongside the document. However I really wish I could have it that the outline title can wrap and go onto multiple lines instead of being cut off with ‘…’. Even though it would mean I have to scroll more to see all the outlines, I’d find it very useful to be able to read the full title I gave each page.

Go to page option when long pressing an outline
On outlines page Currently when you long press an outline you can only delete it or change its name, an option to go to the that page could be really useful.
Right now the only way to this to go to the thumbnails, then to the outlines, then to the page, then to the thumbnails again.
Something like the one in the picture could be small thing to add and could be pretty useful
