1. Customizable paper templates

   It would be helpful to edit the line width of a lined paper, or make some dotted lines and others dashed. Could also incorporate checkboxes and other areas on the paper that are customizable to each user. This would be helpful to have a basic template that can be editale for each user to their liking (ie: I like my lined paper to be wide ruled but also reach the full length of the paper from left to right)

2. The dot grid spacing increased and is way too large now. Would love an option to increase/decrease spacing between dots.

   I like the dot grid because it’s more subtle than the squared grid, but unfortunately the dot grid is huge now and it sucks! I’d like to submit an idea to have the dot spacings be adjustable. This would be nice to have for the graphed and lined paper as well!

3. Pasting with dot grid paper

   Hi. I use a dot grid background for all my planner pages. I love having that bullet journal feel.
   However, pasting onto dot grid paper is a nightmare. If you use stickers, are moving content around, or copying and pasting, when you long press on dot grid paper, the only option you get is "Highlight, Strikeout, Define, Copy". Ahhhh. It's maddening! I always have to hunt for a space on the page that doesn't have the dot grid, and long press to paste there. For some reason, the apple copy and paste doesn't function well in Goodnotes. Three finger press usually doesn't have the paste option available (as if nothing is on the clipboard). Please please please fix this! Just add "Paste" to the option if Goodnotes is thinking that we're trying to long press to connect two dots, I have never done that! I will draw a line. I do copy and paste every day.

   • the duplicate function and the ability to move things through pages… you can move things through pages only with the lasso tool. So ,for example, when you duplicate something you can’t immediately move it in another page because isn’t selected with the lasso tool.
   • Typed text (function between handwriting and audio): Create a to-do list, a toggle list) (as with Notability).
   • Free text field: create squared/lined/dotted text field backgrounds (as with Notability)
   • Automatic dark mode, which, for example, automatically adjusts the font to the dark / light background (as with Notability)

5. Change stroke setting of pen after writing

   Hi, I love Goodnotes but one feature I think it would really benefit from that I have seen in other apps is the ability to change the style after writing. Particularly, I mean being able to change the stroke settings (e.g. change solid line to dashed/dotted and vice versa) or the pen type (from either fountain or brush to ball - I don't think it would work the other way around though). So perhaps the menu where we can currently change the colour of the line, could be changed so that you have the option to change these other elements of the line as well.

6. Return the “Go To Last Page” action in the overflow (three dot) menu like in GoodNotes 4.

   At base, Go to Last requires far less clicks compared to Go to Page. For example,

   With Go to Last:
   1) Click overflow menu
   2) Click Go to Last

   Without Go to Last:
   1) Click overflow menu
   2) Click Go to Page to highlight page numbers (“remember” what the last page number is because the number changes to the current page when clicked)
   3) Type first digit (from this point forward one is interfacing with the keyboard)
   4) Type second digit...and so on
   5) Type Enter

   So you can see there are not only more clicks, but there is an added cognitive step and one has to interface with the keyboard in the Go to Page case.

   My use cases always include using the Apple Pencil. I use Goodnotes for work (meetings both group and one-to-one), journaling, planning, list making for the day, and taking notes while playing board games.

   In all of these cases I am working on the last page of a particular notebook usually based on today’s date. In doing so I frequently look back through pages to gather information or remind myself of information for the above purposes. Thus, when I have the information, I want to go back to the last page to write the information (or paste it in some cases). I do this constantly in all of my use cases.

   I have used Goodnotes for years and have never used the Go to Page feature to go to a page in the middle of a notebook. I use bookmarks if I want to go back to a specific page rather than remember what page previous information is on (maybe once or twice I used Go to Page to guesstimate where information may be in a large notebook before I start swiping to look for it, at which time I would bookmark the page if I intend to go back again. Of course in this situation I would also try the search function, but my handwriting is less than clear). I use bookmarks because I don’t have to memorize page numbers in different notebooks and it is faster than Go to Page.

   A very frequent scenario to which this is particularly important is one-to-one meetings in which dialogue happens very quickly. I often will be taking notes or making action plans while talking and need to refer to previous material by swiping through pages to a recent meeting. Then I want to get back to the notes of the meeting at hand by using Go to Last.

   I think this gives you the gist of the reason Go to Last is necessary. I suspect some folks would use the Go to Page feature more often than me, but a wiser way to work is to use bookmarks, search, and Go to Last.

7. Features that need to be implemented in Goodnotes

   So Im Using GoodNotes for some time now and imo there is some Features missing:

   • Color Picking tool (tap on the color to copy it and use it on a pen or marker till its being changed)
   • Mathsymbol Converter or Mathsymbolpaster
   • Advanced Drawing mode:
     • Dotted Lines/Objects Mode
     • Drawing Symmetric Courves without adding them together
     • Aligning Lines
       
     • rotating Drawings without changing their Size
     • Layering [Would also be nice for studying with the folders to make some sort of "Tap on the field to show solution" outside of the learning cards]
   • Optimized Textfields:
     • single field
     • Squared area

   And if its possible to make the Applepencil Recognize tripple Taps to switch between tools quicker

9. Fixing the pen and highlighter straight line/zoom window.

   I am a great fan of this app, however since the new update (version 7.0.4), I've noticed that the pen and highlighter snap to straight lines/shapes feature has been substantially less accurate/sensitive which makes drawing graphs and models incredibly difficult as it will merge many of my 'corners' into a single line. I draw tables with the highlighter tool but dislike how separate strokes will be darker where overlapped, so being able to draw a graph in a single stroke requires the sensitivity and accuracy from before the update. Currently, it doesn't matter how many 'corners' I draw with the highlighter as whenever it snaps into straight lines, it will miss out the majority of lines I actually drew and I hence cannot create my tables anymore.

   Even before the update it was tedious to make tables with one highlighter stroke, but possible. Now, my single sharp-cornered strokes typically snap into a single shape or a stroke that is missing the majority of 'corners' I need to make the tables.

   With the pen tool, if you have a solid straight line already drawn and want to connect a dashed or dotted line to the end of the first line, it will turn the entire shape/collection of lines into a dashed or dotted pen, which is also really irritating when I need different types of lines to differentiate my work. I suggest reverting the way the pen and highlighter tool functions back to before this update.

   I would also like the opportunity to edit the blue toolbar such that I can access the zoom window without having to enter a separate drop down menu (like before the update) as it would allow me to have quicker access between writing and the use of the lasso tool.

   I have included pictures to illustrate these issues from update 7.0.4. and would really appreciate if this could be implemented as it does deter me from using the app from frustration. It is starting to also impact my education in that I am unable to study at my most efficient capacity and unable to illustrate what I am studying and researching in a comfortable and efficient due to the new incapabilities.

12. A tool to help with language learning

    Hello! My idea for learning a different language is a little bit different than the ones I’ve seen posted. I am trying to learn Korean, more specifically how to read and write the different characters. I think Goodnotes can be a great tool to do that, although I don’t know how that could look. I’m thinking something along the lines of how we learn to write English as children with the big blue lines, and the dotted red line in between…

    From what I’ve learned so far as well, there are certain strokes to different characters to write them.

    Flashcards would be great too, especially with learning what each character means.

14. Permanent laserpointer dot following the handwriting pen

    Whenever you are writing on an already somewhat full page (be it in a classroom setting or in a video that you might publish), it would be very helpful to have a visual indicator to tell the viewer WHERE you are writing. Especially if you have to jump between several places on the page, this makes it much easier to follow.

    I would therefore like to see an option where the already exisiting dot laserpointer can be turned on to follow the pen for heightened visibilty.

15. Separate “Stroke Settings” from the Color Swatches Toolbar Area into its Own Section

    If you have several custom color swatches set up like I do, scrolling back to the front of your swatches to get to stroke settings to change the style and thickness multiple times over (especially in portrait mode) can be tedious. Heck, even saying that out loud sounds tedious.

    My suggestion is to separate these settings from the color swatch menu and make them have their own editable section on the toolbar. This will keep them easily accessible while still being able to scroll through swatches independently.

    As an extra, I’d also love to be able to make more than 3 custom stroke settings, since I use 5-6 stroke thicknesses on the regular, and also like to use dotted lines on occasion - I’d love to have them accessible and handy!

19. Features Request For Goodnotes Beta for Android&Windows

    1.First of all, we cannot edit when we are not connected to the internet. This is really bad. We should be able to use the application while offline.
    Also, the writing experience with the stylus pen in the android version is not smooth.

    2.You should make a trash bin.

    3.In order to use pen options more effectively, you should make a floating favorite bar and you should not set a number limit on this feature and we should be able to position this bar horizontally or vertically.

    4.There is a 100 mb file size limit when importing notes. This is really annoying. We cannot import our notes above this size because some pdfs can be several gb size. We don't want to be limited on this.

    5.For the convenience of drawing graphs, features such as dotted and dashed can be brought to the pen.

    6.You can bring pencil feature for those who like to use it.

    7.The automatic shape feature for shapes such as regular pentagon, regular hexagon, etc. does not work properly. It can be improved further.

    8.We can only add images and text boxes inside the notes. However, we should be able to add file types such as pdf, audio file. I know your IOS version has these features.

    9.Even if we select the darkest color in the highlighters, it becomes darker when we go over the place we marked. This is a bit annoying. It would be better if the color don't darken when we go over it again in the darkest color.

    10.For your Android version, the ability to move the storage directory of the application to the sd card would be very good because we have storage problems. (This would be a really life-saving feature.)

    11.A percentage selection feature related to the zoom feature is really a very essential need.

    12.The selection tool is only for moving selected objects. It would be nice if it also offers functions such as angular rotation, copying, deleting.

    13.When importing notes, there is a bug that sometimes forces you to repeat this process. Be aware of this.

    14.A function to lock the screen zoom in and out would be nice. You should also include a reading mode and in this reading mode the zoom lock feature should be available without forcing you to edit notes.

    15.I know you have the ability to write and preview simultaneously with the audio file in your IOS version, it would be great if you could enable it for Android and windows.

    16.I don't know if it exists but I couldn't do it :) We cannot sort the note pages. This feature can be very effective in page preview.

    17.You should definitely add functions like sorting, copying, moving notes and folders. These are indispensable features in terms of organization.

    18.Page and cover templates can be imported.

    19.Especially in your windows version, you can have smoother transitions when scrolling pages. Especially when scrolling from top to bottom with the mouse wheel, it scrolls very disproportionately.

    20.You can bring the ability to export notes. This is a really important need.

20. Text improvement
